How did we find Beijer Electronics?
The founders of MICA Controls and MICA Technologies were challenged in their previous jobs, as they were building process control systems and compressor control systems that were shipped all over the world. They found that every customer had a different PLC specification. This meant that manuals had to be created for each solution on “how do you interface with this plc”. Each PLC had to be paired with its respective HMI, and each HMI had its own list of capabilities, resolutions, colours, functionality. So custom manuals had to be created each time. This was a waste of time, not just for the engineers, but the business itself. Tired of this problem, they canvassed the world for a solution to this problem, and found Beijer Electronics. In 2001. The unique thing Beijer offered was a driver for every device included in the purchase of the product. No need for extra downloads, or costs, or the need to use their own PLCs. So a burner management solution could be developed on Beijer’s HMI, and be implemented across the world, with the ability to use it with any PLC that the customer wanted to specify. The manual made for that project could then be used to every project afterwards. There was no need for custom graphics or custom documentation for the operator each time.
